What's with all the environmental stuff and charity focus?
We're not here just to make money. We're here to do that so we can re-invest in the brand but much more importantly, to give back to this Earth that we belong to.
Part of our focus is becoming carbon negative (that is, we will sink more carbon than we produce, thus offsetting carbon emissions from others) and contributing to the environment and helping our fellow beings wherever we feel is necessary. Our original Anti-whaling tees, where profits were donated to Sea Shepherd, is an example of this. We will be promoting more of these causes. We belong to the Earth, it does not belong to us, and it is time we all started giving back and remembering that fact.
Why can't I buy your stuff in stores?
We thought long and hard about this, but there's a very good reason for this. We knew we could add more value to snowboarding, what it means to you and us (and also to your hip pockets), by cutting retail out of our model. The rep-based model we use removes the need for expensive overheads associated with having a retail footprint; and this means we can give this margin back to you as well as undertake programs we want to undertake - like our lines for charity and so forth.
We can also devote much more time to keeping the company and range dynamic and fresh, rather than remaining static for whole or half-years due to the need for printed catalogues, presence at trade shows etc, and defined seasonal ranges.
You will never catch us standing still.
So how do you get our stuff? Check out our online store or drop us an email and we'll put you in touch with a local rep or organise something for you. We currently have reps in Whistler, Perth, Sydney, Jindabyne and Melbourne. If you are interested in being a rep, drop us an email and ask away.
I think I'd make a good rep, how do I become one?
We are always on the lookout not just for reps, but passionate people with a good business brain and who truly believe in everything that we do. We want people who live and breathe our concerns for the environment, for the well-being of our fellow Earthlings, and for quality product. Why don't you have high profile team riders?
Having high profile team riders means a rider budget. This means higher prices for you guys. So by using local shredders around the world, we can support these guys, get some exposure, but keep prices down. We want to be a grass-roots snowboarding brand, not the typical corporate brand.
Additionally, we don't really see the need to place certain people above others. We're all the same, we're all just out to get a smile on our faces and shred with our friends. Our company celebrates our obsession's diversity, and our brand is truly egalitarian to reflect snowboarding's true egalitarian nature. When you and your mates are standing at the top of a peak alone, you're all the same. Humans, friends, about to have some fun. All the other stuff doesn't matter, really; the glossy magazines, the fuss...we're all just here to have fun, aren't we?
How do I contribute?
Heresy is the thinking snowboarder's and snowboarding snowboarder's brand. We have people from all over the world contributing to product ideas, board design, art direction etc. We want you involved! Whether it's taking some photos, spreading the word by repping, doing some artwork - check out our community forums and start throwing down!
